Players or Prayers?

It's a long and sad story: we look at sports as a national therapeutic miracle. Invariably it does not work. The problem is that we lack team sense and defy discipline. We still rely more on prayers than players. I can't even talk about it. There are times that I take no pride in our being so obstinately patronizing vainly single-minded or delusioned, otherwise known as being Irani.

do 02--Pissed off understates what I feel and felt. Damn all those who don't know what they are doing to the nation's fate. By this I don't mean the footballers naturally. And Dayee is no longer a footballer, he is just a bastard of the gang.

All over Iran people suffered from a transient depression session :-S

And I don't know how to respond to all the consipracy theories on why. What does it matter, a loss is still a loss.

hellbunny--you make me even more curious to know what you think!

nyx--A loss is a loss if it was only footbal but when you know it is just another case of the bigger mismanagement then it is more that just A loss.

come on behrooz, are you one of those who believe that Rafsanjani made a telephone call to Branko in half time??? Believe me, if Iran would have won the world cup, the one who would gain most, is Ahmadinejad. Why? Because, just as you say, nationalistic feelings are more worth than gold (or oil for that matter) to some.
If you are one of those that believes Branko is a whimp - then I'm with you.

nyx--that Branko is a wimp is true; my point is about those who put a wimp in this position.
