God
If God has really made 'all this', then it's the best reason I've ever got to hate him.
nyx--just a puppet so cleverly programmed who is almost always under the allusion of not being a puppet. However there are some leakages here and there sometimes and that's how they attack Him from time to time, try to murder him or ...
well then, what about the christian belief that we are under the influence of the "evil force" and God, because of the arrangement with the devil, cannot interfere...
nyx--thank nyx! what better theory to show that we are just puppets, or items of aggreement between God and that 'evil force' whatever that is. Then God is not that big and his own state of superpowership is shared by Satan!
but since there is a timestamp on how long satan is to be free to roam this world, I suppose you cannot say that Gods power is equal or less than anyone elses... And we musn't forget the power of human choice ;-) As long as you have a choice, you cannot be considered a puppet (though it is your choice to define yourself as one if you like).
nyx--I don't know what timestamp there is for Satan and who puts a cap on his activities. Is this restriction put by God who is powerless to take over completely, or by Satan himself who should be clever enough not to do that? Second, when we are puppets, that we are, we are programmed to feel that we have choice, that is not a difficult thing to do. Yet, I do concede that the work is done magnificently and and the illusion is great!
well, I must admit that my knowledge of christian belief isn't very good... but I think it is said that satan was one of Gods most loved angels, up til the point when he challenged God for the job :-) The arrangement is, that for 1000 years (or so...) Satan will rule the world. And when the time is up, man must choose between good and bad. (in this case, God is not powerless. He just sticks to the arrangement). I must say that I'm a bit concerned about your definition of man as puppets, because that means we don't have to take responsibility for our actions.
nyx--Ok then, we are getting somewhere! Where are we now? In that 1000 years?
Well, you know it is not that we are not responsible for what we do on the level of what we do. Because we are made to feel free and responsible, but in the bigger picture is that we are all programmed even to feel responsible.
You know, I can't decide if I like "Groundhog Day" better or "The Truman Show"...??? And yes, Behrooz... they're both films... f---'n make-believe!
But as Socrates said, the unexamined life is not worth living.... So it seems to me that the very best we can do... what feels most alive to me... is to ENGAGE ourselves wholeheartedly... not just with these questions... but with God him/herself and the Devil... bring 'em on!!!
The sad thing is that we've become so timid. So afraid of using OURSELVES... our bodies, our voices... to engage in dialogue with the Universe.... That's the origin of rituals... and they feel so dead now. :(
If I was a christian, I would probably say we are right in the middle of the "1000 years", or what ever it was :-) I'm not a christian, but I suggest that you, instead of blaming God, should fight evil by doing good. (and I mean it in the sense of struggeling with destructive thoughts). By saying that we are puppets, you take away the power of change. love /nyx
Hi I just stopped by and had to leave a comment.. I personally are sometimes disillusioned with God when I see what is happening in the world today, . I think God is a good god and I would have to blame it all on man.
Tamara--you nailed it! That's the spirit; yet, you know that sometimes you pause and rethink your actions! Who am I fighting now? Is it God? If it is the real God then it's a useless fight, if it isn't then what's the fight for? There are again some other illusions involved. Yet, I know engaging is good up to the moment you are not left to think on the rationale of your engagement. Anyway, these are thoughts and engagement is my typing which is compulsive. I mean there is no way to be true to your thought as far as you are as you said engaging, however disillusioned you are!
nyx--I strongly appreciate your good will, but it is now beyond cure; this awareness would not go away. It might get eclipsed from time to time by what Tamara calls engagement but the mometn you ger conscious again, you wake up to your old self. For me constant climb on the ladder of success up to the moment of death may do the trick, but if that is not being given to me as a gift! I am not going to engage that seriously with the universe for it.
Starry Nights--welcome; what is man but the creatoin of the old good God? I don't like his creation. It's just like a software you write and it does not function properly.
"you know that sometimes you pause and rethink your actions!"
Exactly! I hate it! And animals never really do that. But also highly accomplished musicians and athletes, among others... whose best "performances" (or prayers, if you will) are achieved when they reach a certain "zone" where there is no pausing or rethinking.... And they will all tell you that the only way to get there is through practice, practice, practice... or refinement, attention, attention... at all times! so that your "engagement"/communication/dialogue with this living Universe can be as authentic as possible....
Tamara--the problem is luck does not always favour you so strongly as to let you have what you like. Besides, if you are enjoying something then rarely do you stop and think about it. All these speculations come to you usually when you are less than satisfied with the ongoing of things.
"the problem is luck does not always favour you so strongly as to let you have what you like."
But here's the deal: if you can't do what you love, then love what you do.
"Besides, if you are enjoying something then rarely do you stop and think about it."
Not necessarily true -- especially if you've been unhappy for a long time, and decided you're tired of being tired.
"All these speculations come to you usually when you are less than satisfied with the ongoing of things."
So do you think it's better to be satisfied or to have conditions ideal for speculation?!
Sometimes I think people basically fall into one or the other camp... and even become resentful of the opposite side. I call that self-righteousness. I really don't see anything wrong with keeping one foot in one camp and the other foot in the other camp. Life is both very long and very short....

guess God is the topic of the day ;-)
count me in as well mate :-D
but what is all this that you hate
dr o2--well I am so upset about him that I don't even want to talk much about him. Do you think ignoring will do?
hellbunny--all this is 'all this' game, whether happy or sad; it's all a game, dear.
when you say that life is just a game, do you mean that you are a puppet in gods game, or are you yourself a player???

it's surely worth a try :-)
dr o2--unfortunately 'trying' is our Hobson's choice.

Tamara--you must be too engaged with what you are doing to be able not to think about it. This is good if you are enjoying what you are doing.
Behrooz, my friend... that's what it's all about -- enjoying what you are doing.
Tamara--the problem is luck does not always favour you so strongly as to let you have what you like. Besides, if you are enjoying something then rarely do you stop and think about it. All these speculations come to you usually when you are less than satisfied with the ongoing of things.
